According to the latest Transparency International Bribery Index Report, Kenya is the most corrupt county in the East African region followed by Uganda, Tanzania was the least corrupt.The Index measures the extent of bribery in the region of East Africa and is based on actual interactions of citizens with public institutions and resultant demand for bribery and payments.The level of corruption stood at 45% in Kenya, 34.6% in Uganda and 17% in Tanzania.
The Police was listed as the most corrupt institution, followed by the judiciary, the defence ministry and the public service. The Uganda Revenue Authority was the only tax authority in the region that appeared among the top five corrupt institutions. Further on the hitlist where the three power utility companies in the region, TENASCO of Tanzania, Kenya Power and Lighting Company and UMEME of Uganda, but also public services have extorted bribes from citizens include water, security, health, licencing, immigration and infrastructure.
New on the list of corrupt institutions in Uganda are The Aids support Organisation (TASO), Mulago Hospital, religious organisations, secondary schools and universities and international organisation.
Ronald Mayinja is part of the reputable Eagles Productions, a band that entered stage already some years ago. But recent years have pushed him as a solo singer and songwriter to the top of Ugandas music charts, he won music prices for best artist, best album etc. in 2007 and 2008. Most of his lyrics he writes in Luganda, the local language of Uganda. Grace Nakimera was born in Kampala, her family originates from Muyanga, Bukasa.
Grace Nakimera was part of the trio Grace, Gatimo and Paragon of “Ani akumanyi” and released a single called 'Anfuukula'. after the trio split. This became a big hit in Uganda and the related video won the 2008 PAM Awards.
Obsessions started originally as a mixed boy and girls group, but after some changes it is now a group of five girls. Sharon Salmon, Jackie Tusiime, Hellen Lukome, Brenda Nambi and Cleopatra Kohirwe, all very good looking and talented singers and dancers, launched their first album Wekuume in 2005, which became immediately successfull all over East Africa and beyond.

Hope's curriculum integrated community service with leadership development to cultivate a spirit of volunteering and participation in community development.
To promote a strong spirit of community engagement and grass-roots development, the Academy provides infrastructure for a Community Resource Center. The center provides resources through these various establishments: Community Library - Youth Resource Center, Computer Center, Women's Empowerment Center, After school Program, Entrepreneurship & Leadership Development, Science Center and Adult Literacy.
Founded in 2005, Uganda Rural Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit focuses on the creation of educational and sustainable development opportunities for orphans, impoverished youth, and women in Uganda's rural communities, especially those most affected by the AIDS epidemic. The principal philosophy behind URF's mission is believing that a better life is possible. We seek grassroots solutions to local challenges in an effort to help people help themselves.
URF programs include a Children's Home with 22 orphans, a Vocational Secondary School with 125 students most of whom are orphans, a Child Sponsorship Program, a Community Resource Center, a Women's Empowerment Program, Seed Loan Program, and Micro Finance and entrepreneurship for rural farmers. URF also has a international volunteer program accepting volunteers from all over the world to help in community development programs in Uganda.
