organisation-social work
Founded in 2005, Uganda Rural Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit focuses on the creation of educational and sustainable development opportunities for orphans, impoverished youth, and women in Uganda's rural communities, especially those most affected by the AIDS epidemic. The principal philosophy behind URF's mission is believing that a better life is possible. We seek grassroots solutions to local challenges in an effort to help people help themselves.
URF programs include a Children's Home with 22 orphans, a Vocational Secondary School with 125 students most of whom are orphans, a Child Sponsorship Program, a Community Resource Center, a Women's Empowerment Program, Seed Loan Program, and Micro Finance and entrepreneurship for rural farmers. URF also has a international volunteer program accepting volunteers from all over the world to help in community development programs in Uganda.
