This economic community forms beside the CEMAC the second part of the CFA-Franc zone in West Africa. Founded on a conference in Dakar on the 10.01.1994 the treaty was inforced by all member states till 1.08.1994. The official name of this monetary union is 'Union Economique et Monetaire Oest Africaine', the currency is called Franc des Communaute financiere d' Afrique' or in short CFA-Franc. The convertability of the currency is guaranteed by the State Bank of France, the exchange rate is fixed to the Euro. The Central Bank of the West African states BCEAO offers more information on its website.
But it is also possible to go straight to the website of the UEMOA, but this does not contain so much information.
